International Conference on System-Integrated Intelligence: New Challenges for Product and Production Engineering

Every second year the International Conference on System-Integrated Intelligence (SysInt) is organized with major contribution by the ISIS Sensorial Materials Scientifice Centre. ISIS' partners in organizing this event are the Leibniz Universität Hannover and the University of Paderborn. Following Hanover 2012 and Bremen 2014, SysInt 2016 took place at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute in Paderborn. In 2018, SysInt is due to return to Hanover again. New challenges and possibilities for product design and production engineering introducing by increasing levels of intelligence integrated in today's products are the main topic the conference focusses on. Information about past events as well as all the latest news about future installments may be found on the SysInt's homepage.

IEEE Sensors 2012-Konferenz, Taipeh (Taiwan), October 28th-31st, 2012: ISIS Symposium on Material-integrated Sensing and Intelligence

Within the framework of the IEEE Sensors 2012-Conference, ISIS organized a Special Session entitled Material-integrated Sensing and Intelligence: Concepts, fundamental Technologies and Applications. For this event, a number of highly recognized presenters could be won, among them Prof. Fu-Kuo Chang of Stanford  University and Manuel Collet of Femto-ST as well as a contribution by the company Accellent on commercial applications of piezoelectric sensor technologies in pipeline monitoring. The programme of the Special Session may be found here.

European Congress on Advanced Materials and Processes 2011 (Euromat 2011),
12th to 15th September, Montpellier (France)

In the context of Euromat Conference 2011 ISIS organised in conjunction with the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) the symposium A53 entitled “NEMS/MEMS for Sensorial and Actorial Materials“. As keynote speaker, Dr. Clemens Bockenheimer of Airbus Industries gave a lecture on “Stuctural Health Monitoring (SHM) – The way to best aircraft design and operability”.
During symposium E31 “Advanced Materials and Transportation“ ISIS member Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel S. Herrmann informed about “Composites in Transportation – Potential and Costs”. Both presentations were well-frequented. These and further selected contributions will be published in Journal of Intelligent Materials Systems and Structures (Symposium A53) and Steel Research International (Symposium E31), respectively.
